Public service announcement to hackers: when picking a target, - TopicsExpress

Public service announcement to hackers: when picking a target, dont pick someone named Jon Daley. I just helped out a Jon Daley from Arkansas who has an old Bank of America account that he has forgotten about, and they just changed his password, and so BoA emailed me about it (because either the original Jon Daley had a typo in his address, or else used to have the comcast.net account that I now own). Im happy to report that BoAs security is reasonably good - I wasnt able to reset his password, though they did reveal his AOL account, and a partial phone number, with which I was able to find a classified ad listing for him, and gave him a call. And he was happy to get my call, since a minute before he had gotten a text and automated phone call from BoA when I tried to reset his password, and he was wondering what was going on... The bad news is that Im pretty sure someone managed to sign up for a credit card in his name last night, and it went into my spam folder (Ive only ever gotten phishing attempts from BoA before) and so didnt see it until this morning... Yay for social networking...
