Publication day for Elithe Hamilton Kirklands Precious Memories, a handsome chapbook containing Mrs. Kirklands prose-and-poetry manuscript for the stage production of Precious Memories (1987). A companion DVD (video from the original staging) will be issued soon, in time to complement a screening of the play in March at Fort Worths Wildcatter Exchange literary festival. An influential regional novelist with a career dating way back into the last century, Mrs. Kirkland made Precious Memories her last major work -- it premiered shortly after her 80th birthday. Her collaborators in this venture include D Lee Thomas, Harris Kirby, Slim Richey, Buddy Hale, Greg Jackson, John McDonald, Ron Green, Janita Thomas, Julie Frederick Tandy, Suzanne McDonald, Johnny Simons, and Yrs. Trly -- all representing Hip Pocket Theatre and the affiliated roots-music bands Salt Lick and The Dixie Dewdrops. Quite an experience; Mark A.
