Published on Dec 10, 2014 Native American inmates at the Coconino County Detention Facility are now able to participate in religious ceremonies inside the jail’s new sweat lodge. Indigenous rights advocate Shannon Rivers of the Akimel Ootham from Gila River has come into the jail to lead the sweat lodge purification ceremonies, which resumed in November after a seven-year hiatus.
