Pulling up the poem I wrote for Veterans Day Last year. A REMEMBRANCE, A SALUTE! A uniform, its creases polished and pressed A young man striking a pose, is fully dressed His white-gloved hands brush a hair in place A hat is perched above his fresh, youthful face His duffle bag packed, soon will be on his way In service of his beloved country, the grand USA Final sentiments are shared, shedding many tears Lingering good-byes, tight hugs, voicing many fears The train whistle blows, he rises, time to depart He strides to the door, doffs his hat over his heart Pulling out of the station, the train chugs far away The recruits on their way to begin their new day Marching into their future, freedoms they will save For United States of America, home of the brave! In honor of the day of remembrance, Veterans Day Lives were shed, men and women bow and pray For those who served in the past and present day Men and women have served in their special way Americans gather to pay respects, to loudly sing God Bless America! Our precious freedoms ring! Written By Lois A Troutman, November 12, 2012 IN HONOR AND REMEMBRANCE OF VETERANS DAY WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF FREEDOM! THE GRAND USA! IN MEMORY OF MY DAD, DICK FOGLEMAN! IN MEMORY OF MY HUSBAND, KENNETH TROUTMAN! My dad proudly served in World War II in Germany! My husband proudly served in the Army Reserves in the USA!
