“Pure British charm, service and food!!!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW Met by Simon as we entered through the freshly painted exterior into a bright & welcoming interior our already good mood lifted immediately. Simon was the epitome of how to greet customers without being over the top and gushing. Everywhere was spotless and well maintained. The view from our bedroom window over the rear courtyard garden was relaxing and comforting. Our room had all that we would expect with good TV, kettle and all the trimmings including handmade biscuits - which went very quickly. The following morning I decided to brave the full Yorkshire breakfast whilst my wife sensibly settled for the pancakes. As promised, all of the items were sourced within 20 miles and were excellent. Sausages full of meat and herbs, bacon without water, perfect black pudding and bread still warm from the oven! Lashings of tea, muffins and crumpets and a variety of fresh juices. I was already regretting that wed booked for only 3 days!! Simon and his lovely wife Andrea are obviously and rightfully proud of this excellent accommodation and it must serve as the perfect template for anybody considering entering this profession. The location just 4 minutes stroll from the River Ouse and Lendal Bridge entry to this magnificent city only raises further (if possible) everything about this perfect long weekend escape. We will never consider anywhere else to stay when we next return to York. Nowhere could compete!!! Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. No noise (except the birds), bright and clean.
