Purple passion or Purple velvet (because of its beautiful velvet - TopicsExpress

Purple passion or Purple velvet (because of its beautiful velvet leaves, which are covered with short, purple hairs that become more colorful if the plant is placed in bright light), is very decorative plant. Its origin is in Java and Sulawesi. Maybe you will ask why its name is aurantiaca - orange. It´s because of its little orange flowers. They remind Astra species a bit. Their scent, to put it mildly, is unpleasant a bit and the flowers should be cut off. It´s necessary to do it, if you don´t want your Gynura die. How to grow purple passion? Put the plant in the brightest location, but not in full sunshine. A perfect place is with the morning sunshine. Plants use to grow directly into the light, so it will be good to rotate the pot regularly to give enough light and your plant will have more saturated leaf color. Gynura likes evenly moist soil (when the temperature is high), but avoid of putting the plant right in water, if it´s summer time or winter. Reduce watering during the winter months to the minimum. To make your plant more branching, pinch out the growing tips of the plants stems regularly. When you cut back the stems, it will encourage fresh, vigorous growth and strong leaf color. And you surely will love to propagate this plant. As with any kind of plants, Gynura propagates by cuttings too. Each of cutting should be one or two stem nodes long. Plant several cuttings directly into potting compost of the pot and place it all in a warm place (minimally 18oC). #gynura #purplepassion #flowers #plants #greenhouse #indoorplants #kvety #rastliny #flora #zahradkar
