Put down your forks and cups before reading this because if not, - TopicsExpress

Put down your forks and cups before reading this because if not, youll spew whatever is in your mouth all over your screen. Oh, to be that orc who got to punch her in the face. Id like to buy him a beer. (And why do these people think little girls can only root for a female character or vice-versa?) Vomit-inducing excerpt to follow: There was a time when females in those stories were pathetic and were a disgrace to the notion of womanhood, says Lilly. But there has been a real turnaround for at least the last four years, where a lot of the time some of the most revolutionary (screen) writers are writing in the fantasy and sci-fi genres. (TFAT: You mean like how Tauriel was a pathetic Mary Sue and a disgrace to women with her instantaneous infatuation with a trouser-joke-telling non-dwarf? Didnt she need rescuing multiple times in the final film and have a mental breakdown? All that after pulling a weapon on her King simply because she didnt agree with his decisions? Gee, what would she do if he decided to plant an oak tree when she wanted an elm? Cut out his heart?) I have to choose the movies that I want my son to watch. No offense to the series, but Im not going to be in the next Twilight because I dont necessarily think its got any redeeming qualities I want my son to watch. (TFAT: This made me laugh out loud so hard I scared my dogs. And you think TH movies have redeeming qualities, EL? Or Lost--or anything youve done? Dont worry, honey. I dont think they want you in the Twilight franchise. And Im sorry, but the Twilight films at least had a cohesive plot and character development. Not to mention the director didnt feel the need to invent characters. Those films were at least watchable in that they werent bloated train wrecks with no purpose. There was a beginning, a middle, and a conclusion.) ... What weve done with people like Tauriel is well say that Professor Tolkien didnt say , there was a female elf, its just that he didnt write those particular sections. We sort of justify it by saying were filling in little holes that Professor Tolkien didnt have the time to write in those little bits, but those characters dont actually change what he wrote. (TFAT: You keep telling yourself that. Whatever helps you sleep at night. That one Mary Sue character completely altered what JRRT wrote. The excuses just keep getting flimsier and more laughable.) nydailynews/entertainment/movies/jackson-lilly-tauriel-earned-place-hobbit-article-1.2048998
