Her work is marked by a cartoonish style with tongue-in-cheek references to popular culture. Thus she has given her take on anything from Miami Vice to strip clubs and the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty. Jill Ann Press has a rare ability to paint for both men and women. Some may be taken by the naive, thick brush strokes; others may get a kick out of the neon signs and the Harleys. Still others dig her street-smart, worldly-wise one-liners. After all, who can resist a line like, The odds are against you, but the drinks are free? But it isnt fair to look at the elements separately.
