Q: How would you define anti-Blackness? A: Anti-Blackness is the disregard, devaluing, and demonization of Black people, Black culture, Black history, etc. It is privileging Whiteness over Blackness. It is the assumption that lighter skin is better than darker skin. It is the belief that PWIs are more valuable than HBCUs. It is the idea that the hair that grows out of our head is defective and that it needs chemical altering and/or other races hair to redeem it. It is the notion that Black peoples art or humanity has to be validated by White sources. That our news is not news unless CNN says so. That our movies are not important unless the Oscars say so. That our music is not worthwhile unless Billboard or the Grammys say so.
