Quabbin Reservoir Troopers from State Police Belchertown were out on ‘Marine 28’ yesterday working with the State Police Underwater Recovery Unit and Environmental Police. Marine 28 was procured for the Quabbin by Senator Brewer almost 20-years ago, and is still operational today. Recently, two fishermen snagged their anchor in 130’ of water. It had snagged on a sunken vessel. The boat was recovered a couple weeks ago, and was determined that it had sunk in (or around) 1984, approximately 30-years ago. Yesterday, the Underwater Recovery Unit was using side scan sonar to search the area that the boat was recovered, to check for any additional debris.
