Que the music... Ill...be home...for Christmas... I always loved this song! As Ive ran errands this past several weeks, it seems like Ive heard this tune everywhere! Now, as I sit here, in the silence of my small, country apartment, it replays itself in my mind...what memories it awakens...I am visited by Christmas which have passed. Its comforting to remember Christmas as it was, instead of living in this moment of what it has become. Ive always loved Christmas...the one day of the year when, life is what we wish it could be every day...peaceful and joyous! I never had big Christmas as a kid...maybe thats what has made me happy to be a giver. I love to witness the joy in the smile of the receiver. So, as most people do, I would venture out into the bustling crowds to shop, then wrap, and finally, deliver those gifts to the people most dear to me. How I miss those days!! I know, now, THEY were the best gift of all! How I yearn to travel those country roads...past the brightly decorated houses and singing along with the pre-recorded Christmas songs on the radio...heading to one of several holiday celebrations. I cant adequately express my joy as I turned in to the driveway of the old farmhouse atop the hill...full of light...life...and love! Alas, the lights are long out... the home is no more...lives have moved on...or passed on. That most priceless gift of those beautiful, magical moments is...still vivid in my mind...remembered with a smile...treasured by my heart...and will always be a part of me and who I am. As you celebrate this Christmas, may you, all, receive such a gift! (Thank you, my friend, for such beautiful memories!) MERRY. CHRISTMAS! Que the music...
