With this year’s deadline to register for individual health - TopicsExpress

With this year’s deadline to register for individual health insurance just a weekend away, much attention is being lavished on two numbers — the 6 million Americans who have signed up so far, says Obama, and the percentage of those people who are (or arent) young. How many of these signed up have paid? How many of these were people that were insured and lost their old plans? How many of these are people that would have became eligible for government sponsored insurance with out Obamcare? We know that over 7,000 people become new Medicare beneficiaries each day when they have reached age 65. How many signing up are healthy so their monthly payments can off set the unhealthy ones? Each insurance market is run within each individual state, big numbers in some states can’t make up for shortfalls in others. If some states do not have the big numbers needed to get their exchange insurance then those states will see premiums sky rocket. Look at the states of Oregon and Maryland whose web exchanges do not work. Do you think the citizens in those states are not going to see sharp increases in premiums?
