Question: I am a new beginner to Buddhism and do not know much about Karma. What should I do to avoid doing bad Karma Answer: As we sow, we reap somewhere and sometime, in his life or in a future birth. What we reap today is what we have sown either in the present or in the past. The Samyutta Nikaya states: According to the seed that’s sown, So is the fruit you reap there from, Doer of good will gather good, Doer of evil, evil reaps, Down is the seed and thou shalt taste The fruit thereof. Karma to the ordinary Buddhist serves as a deterrent to commit evils thoughts and actions while to an intellectual being it serves as in incentive to do good. Though Karma has all the complexity within it, those who understood about it will becomes kind, tolerant, and considerate. However those who do not understand but still doing Good actions and thoughts are also becomes kind, tolerant, and considerate. The Four Noble Truth and Eightfold Path of the Lord Buddha teaching is the best teachers, master and guidelines for us to practice and cultivate about it. There are many who understood about it and yet without any hesitation they commit all the bad and evil actions and thoughts. This is because of Human Beings are too ignorance and arrogant to listen to the good teachings and even we may frighten by those who knows about the karma or what we had seen to witness about the consequences of the committing bad Karma anyway those who are not Mindful enough will commit it too. Karma is a law in itself, which operates in its own field without any intervention of any external, independent ruling agency. Ignorance (avijja), or not knowing things as they truly are, is the main cause of Karma.
