Question for any mamas that have made it to/past 38 weeks: My doctor says he doesnt want us going past 38 weeks as the placentas tend to deteriorate/calcify sooner in twin pregnancies than singletons, and complications can arise quickly after 38 weeks. I am interested in finding out if your doctor shared the same opinion, or were you allowed to go past 38 weeks? If you went past 38, when/how did you deliver? Personal background- Im currently 31.5 weeks with di/di b/g twins and so far pregnancy has been free of complications. Will have another check next week but cervix is still over 3cm. Doctor seems to think if its still over 3 next week that I have a good shot at carrying these babies to 38. Personally, I would like to avoid an induction at all cost (and if both babies remain head down and healthy we will be opting for vaginal, not c-section). Id like to think that my body and babies know whats best- if we can all handle it past 38, Id like to wait until my body is ready to go into labor. But I dont want to put babies at risk. I also know I will be getting lots of pressure from my OB to agree to an induction, and if I make it to 38 I feel like I might agree quickly because Ill most likely be waaaay over this pregnancy by then. Id like to figure out my stance on it now so I can get DH on the same page and he can champion for me. Thanks mamas!
