Question for any mechanics out there. I have a 2001 Intrepid with coil on plugs. Noticed a lot of whitish smoke during start up and acceleration. Once planed out not to bad. Progressively got worse. Code is reading Injector 3 open or short circuited. I was told to check plug 3 and inspect. Upon removing I noticed boot was covered in oil. Went ahead and removed plug and noticed it was kind of gas oil mixture. Seeing this I check the other plugs and notice all boots are covered in oil and can smell a hint of gas from oil dipstick. Engine block was just replaced. Not even 3,000 miles on it. I have looked and asked and from what I am gathering is Valve cover gasket, O Rings, Grommets and possibly a number 3 Injector. Just wondering if I should go ahead and buy an injector or could this oil just be causing it to misfire and stay open and be giving a false reading. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am tired of sinking more and more money into this car. I also Might need a torque wrench if someone has one I could borrow. Unless, I can get Mike Neighbors to hook me up. Maybe he just made a simple mistake. IDK. Has anyone ever had a problem like this before? Do I just need grommets, O rings, Or the whole set? and how hard is it to do?
