Question of the Day-October 11 2013 Have heard you for years and just watched your TedTalk on composting...informative and entertaining. Im getting rid of two Earth Machine composters which are falling apart and thought I would purchase a tumbler. I cant find a used one locally (I live in Baltimore) so I guess I will buy one on the web. I was thinking about the Lifetime 65 gallon tumbler since Ive found it for $150 and didnt want to spend more than that. I like the idea of a tumbler for kitchen scraps so as not to attract animals. Im also going to build a pallet compost bin for grass and leaves. Your thoughts? Scott in Baltimore, MD Mike says: Tumblers lack ground contact (thus no worms to help) and are often more work than most people want to keep up with; worm bins are best for kitchen waste; grass clippings can ONLY come from an untreated lawn--and even then, should stay on the lawn.
