Questions on what to ask when we go to Cleveland, here is a little - TopicsExpress

Questions on what to ask when we go to Cleveland, here is a little history: My husband is very fit, active, works hard daily, runs the farm, and at a healthy weight. A few months back he had some things that felt like hot flashes in his chest area. He also experienced dizziness. The doctor ran some heart tests, all came back fine. A couple months or so ago he had some charlie horses in leg, ate some bananas and took some magnesium. They didnt get better and in about 2 weeks he showed me on his calf where it hurt. I told him it could be something like a blood clot and we should go to doctor. Went on few more days and by Sunday, the 2nd of November he finally decided to go to the ER. They did an ultrasound and said he had a blood clot in his left leg. Gave him a shot of Lovenox and a prescription for Lovenox and Coumadin. We were told to do two shots a day and 5 of the Coumadin a day. Were told to meet with primary doctor the next day. Met with primary doctor, he said same regimen for a week, (shots and pills) we asked about a CATSCAN or something (back up some, my husbands brother had a blood clot, which prevented him from having his colonoscopy, which in turn, made it too late by the time he had his colonoscopy as he his polyps turned to cancer. My husband was scheduled for his colonoscopy first week in December follow up from last years polyps that had to be removed, which now he can not have). So, we are asking as we just dont want the same thing to happen. On the CATSCAN, it showed multiple PEs. So they had him continue the Lovenox, for an additional 10 days. We were concerned as he wasnt hospitalized or anything. Doc said IF he had any pressure, pain, shortness of breathe he would put him in hospital. Speed up till this day and he is jumping between 8, 9, and 10 Coumadin, the 10 every day is too much, but the 9 everyday seems to little. (Doctor texted today saying that it went to 3.8 and needed to lower it) (also doc is a family friend) He has his blood tested every Friday. Our primary feels there is an underlying condition, and did run a PETScan, which did not show any cancer. After our asking, he did schedule my husband to go to Cleveland Clinic - Hematology & Medical Oncology. (a few hour drive) We asked as it just seems to us, that there might be something we arent doing. So, to anyone that has read this far - would you be doing the same, and is there anything we should be doing/asking? He still does not have any pressure, shortness of breathe, or anything to the sort. The pain in leg is now gone.
