Quick video of Talitha doing legs with me last night. I changed her usual barbell squat to the sumo squat. The main differences between the two are the sumo squat has a wider stance and targets the inner thigh (adductors) as well as the gluteals a lot more. So ladies, if youre wanting to develop your gluteals (backside) then make sure youre adding this exercise into your routine. Just ensure you keep the chest up, back straight, heels planted to the floor/bench and tighten your core. Dont allow your knees to come together during the movement either. We used the benches to allow a deeper stretch in her muscle and to activate more muscle fibres. Admittedly Talitha could have kept her weight through her heels a little more (tightness in calf -(gastrocnemius/soleus) and therefore stopped herself from coming forward in specific reps.
