Quintiles GrADS Developing a graduate career in Project Management…. Welcome to the second QGrADS 2015 e-newsletter! QGrADS is the exciting new graduate Project Management Development Programme from Quintiles Laboratories (QLAB). We’d like to tell you a little about the training and development programme that is part of the QGrADS journey. Over the next few months, we will be sending you updates and news direct to your mailbox on what QLAB does, what to expect from QGrADS and how to apply for the 2015 intake. Introduction to the programme As a Graduate Project Manager you will embark on a development programme designed to accelerate your career with QLAB. You will complete our proprietary Project Manager training that will enable you to perform in-role - just like our other Project Managers. However, you will also have exposure to the complete spectrum of QLAB activities, enabling your career development and leadership skills to take off. Did you know? 70% of what we learn is through experience – actually learning while doing the job Learning through Experience As a Graduate Project Manager, you will complete a rotation of short placements in other QLAB departments. · You’ll learn how a database is built and how client data is managed. · You’ll learn to build the kits we use in our trials, and you’ll see how they are shipped and how they are received, tested and stored back at the laboratory. · You’ll have experiences of a vast range of tasks needed to deliver the laboratory testing on a clinical trial. · You’ll develop a deeper understanding of the intricacies and importance of detailed budget management. · You’ll be exposed to a variety of client facing situations at the account level. These experiences will help you to become a strategic thinker and understand what it means to deliver lab services in a highly competitive marketplace. Did you know? 20% of what we learn we develop through our Relationships with others Learning through Relationships During your rotations you will build business connections that will help you to develop and grow in your role. We expect high performance and recognise that youll need support and guidance to succeed; accordingly you’ll be mentored by our highest performers. As one of our Graduate Project Managers, you’ll also have regular meetings with a range of our experts including our senior management team, laboratory directors, customer management leads, operational excellence group and our finance team. These relationships will help you to build business acumen and to understand what it means to be a leader in QLAB. Did you know? Formal education contributes to around 10% of what we learn. Learning through Education As a Graduate Project Manager you will already be educated to the highest standard in a relevant field and you will continue to build on this foundation when you join us. You will complete a comprehensive Project Management training curriculum specifically designed for your role. This role and task based curriculum is a blend of self-study, classroom and on-the-job training activities which will equip you with the knowledge and competence to be a successful Project Manager. You will need to embrace the varied experiences and challenges of the programme to maximise your development. When you combine your academic achievements, your experiential learning, and your network of relationships, you will be equipped to deliver excellence. How long does the programme last? The programme has no fixed length. You will start supporting studies early in your career and we expect that you will be operating as a fully competent project manager by around 18 to 24 months. What happens at the end of the programme? You will automatically be assigned to a Project Manager role. Then your objective is to apply your knowledge and behaviours to become an exceptional Project Manager. Continuous Professional Development Continuous professional development is a cornerstone to any career and at this point you will be in be responsible for your career direction. You may choose to seek Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification, or start looking to develop towards leadership roles. Quintiles offers a wide range of career development opportunities. How and When To Apply… Our QGrADS website and application process will open on 12th January 2015 and close 28th February 2015. You will be required to complete an online application form with set criteria and questions. Sorry but we will not be able to accept CVs before or during the application phase. When will we be interviewing? Assessment centres will be held at our Livingston site during March 2015 and you must be able to attend in person on the day you are invited. When does the QGrADS Programme Start? The expected start date for all successful QGrADS applicants will be 7th September 2015 and applicants must be able to start on this date.
