Quite amazing how parents go on about how much they love their child. How special their bond is. There is nothing like it, they say. They would do anything for their child. Their childs joy brings them joy. Any pain their child feels causes them pain too. Yet if they are not vegan how is it they can hear about the pain of other parent/child relationships and continue to pay for such pain? They hear of baby chicks breaking their way through the shell, searching for their mother, only to be thrown on a conveyer belt heading toward a macerator and just as they try out their baby wings for the first time their lives are shredded to pieces. They hear of a mother pig kept in a tiny prison helplessly watching as someone takes her substandard babies by the hind legs and slams those babies heads against the concrete; feeling intense grief as her babys blood is splattered all over but unable to do anything other than lay in her waste full of anguish as her baby is thrown on a heap of other convulsing-to-death piglets. They hear of new born calves ripped away from their mothers who cry for their baby; their bewildered baby crying for their mother and for their food to no avail. If the baby is female shell be forced to follow in her mothers footsteps of being raped and continually hooked up to a milking machine until she is so weak she can barely walk to where shell be sliced to pieces without being electrically prodded or fork lifted. They hear of male babies who are useless to the dairy industry and are bludgeoned to death or sold off to the veal industry where theyre imprisoned in tiny crates, tethered at the neck, and so malnourished they stumble towards the killing floor as workers drag them by their tails or ears to speed up the killing. Yes, its really quite amazing to me that non vegans can hear of all this pain yet, without any remorse, continue paying to sever the bonds of other parents and children while they go on and on how sacred the parent/child bond is.
