Quito Ecuador was hit with several earthquakes today. So....today was a crazy day! As we where driving back from visiting an orphanage, we saw HUGE dust clouds coming down the mountains on both sides like avalanches. The road we where driving on had several places where land-slides where happening, and rocks on the roads. We where confused by what it was at first...but then as we heard sirens and people evacuating buildings we knew it had to have been an earthquake. We actually did not feel it, because we where driving, and the van is shaky. As we drove back towards Quito the entire sky was filling with dust, but looked like most building where fine. There where lots of sirens and cops and ambulances, heading different directions. We could not get ahold of our Orphanage because the phone lines and power was down. We had no power at our orphanage, and our internet is still out. I am staying at some American friends home tonight that has power and internet. Everyone we know was OK, and we have not heard how bad the damage was. It did take out the road from our orphanage to the hostel...so our group is staying the night at the orphanage. :) Just another normal trip for me! lol
