Quotes from the Interview with Andras Biro - Turkustan newspaper 31 May 2013 Baku, Azerbaijan “No army in Europe ever defeated Atilla’s army – the Hunnic army. “ “Soon after Atilla’s death the Hunnic Empire fell, however Hungarian people did not disappear, a big part of them stayed in the Hungarian territories and preserved their existence until today. Some part of Hungarian tribes – ten tribes moved to the East and founded North Caucasus Hunnic state. They later moved back to the West in Arpad’s army, and three Hunnic-Magyar tribes crossed Derbent and reached Azerbaijan. They moved on to Urmia and Tabriz in the South Azerbaijan later on.” “There are over hundred kurgans around Derbent which belong to Hun-Magyars.” “Hungarian people have preserved the memory of Atilla until present. Europe. The Oghuz – Seljuk, Ottoman, Azerbaijani and other Turkic peoples lived together in a close geography for long centuries and share common memory, language, legends etc. more. Just like you share Oghuz khan and Dada Gorgud epos, we Hungarians have “Hun and Magyar” epos, which is preserved by Madyar tribes in Kazakhstan as “Kudyar and Madyar” and partly by Karachays in the North Caucasus.” “The original version of “Atilla” is “Etele”, meaning “great river” in Hungarian language. Huns named big rivers they settled around Etele and since the great Emperor was born on the bank of a big river he was named respectively. “Atilla” is the version mentioned in Germanic and Latin sources”. “Hungarians have preserved their culture and traditions, folk epos, Tengrism and Shamanic believes along the centuries in the centre of Europe. We are the only nation who preserved the ancient Runic alphabet. We have also preserved our language which we brought from Asia.” “During Soviet years we were deprived from organizing national celebrations - Kurultaj, however after 1990s we have restored this tradition. “ “The first Magyar Kurultaj was organized in 2007 in Kazakhstan together with Madyar tribes residing there.” “160 thousand people participated in the previous Kurultaj and among them 3000 people were in national costumes, including the restored ancient costumes.” “Magyar-Turan Kurultaj is the biggest celebration in the world in this regard.” “Hungary is a modern European state, however it does not forget its Asiatic roots and aims to further preserve its step culture.” “Hungary is member of the European Parliament and our President János Áder stated that “Hungary has opened a door to the East”. “Hungarian Parliament is the only one in the European union which adopted a Memorandum on Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani lands.” “During Soviet years it was promoted that Hungarian language comprises some Turkic words which were adopted later. However this is not true, those words are Hungarian and have been in our mother tongue since the beginning. We consider that there are hundreds of words in Hungarian language that are same in Azerbaijani, like – “ana”, “ata”, “mən”, “alma”, “qapı”, “tarla”, “bağa”, “tısbağa” etc. Over 3-4 thousand words have the same roots, and grammar structure is 90 per cent similar. Mainly the common words are the ancient words and phrases, those related with nature and other fundamental words.”
