R.I.P Little Jimmy Dickens. :(... I was in Nashville last night and took in an amazing show at Pucketts featuring the singing and songwriting powerhouses Bobby Tomberlin, Billy Labounty and Carrie Tillis. Bobby and Jimmy were very close. I offered my condolences and he thanked me and shared that he was just with Jimmy the day before at the hospital. He was walking and talking with him and he seemed on his way to a full recovery, so the news of his passing hit him pretty hard. He apologized he said if he seemed a little out of it. He went on to perform a beautiful set with his friends and dedicated a touching song to Jimmy. It was a beautiful dedication and I hope to see more from this town today honoring his memory. After the show I went to Legends Bar and found some Jimmy Dickens memorabilia. I found an album that Little Jimmy Dickens had autographed to Legends Bar and I pulled out my phone to take a picture. That was harder to do than I thought because I just couldnt help myself and started to cry. A man came up to me at that time and showed me a picture of himself with Jimmy from a couple years back when he got to meet him at the Opry. He said Jimmy was the kindest person he had ever met. I know that Jimmy is in heaven now playing and singing with all his friends. I hope Hank Williams welcomed him in with Hey Tater we been waiting on you for a while why dont you get up here and sing Old Country Church with me. I hope this town knows what a treasured soul they lost in Jimmy Dickens. He will be sorely missed.
