R.I.P Uncle Edgar SANFORD — John Edgar Morris, age 95, died peacefully Monday, June 17, 2013, at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst, N.C. Mr. Morris was born in Lee County, on Nov. 7, 1917, to the late William Carl Morris and Minnie Everette Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Carl Morris, and a sister, Margaret Ann Flynn. Mr. Morris was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict. Following a twenty-six year career in the U.S. Army, he retired with his wife to Cayce, S.C. He was active in the Broad Acres Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. A native of Harnett County, he returned to this area and with his wife built a house on Barbecue Church Road. Prior to his illness, he was an active member of Swann Station Baptist Church. Surviving relatives include his wife of 72 years, Geraldine Rosser Morris of the home, as well as a son, Robert E. Morris and wife Tommye of Tucker, GA, and two granddaughters, Rebekah Morris of Winston-Salem and Robin Morris of Decatur, GA, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank his niece and devoted caregiver, Minnie Young, and dear friends Herman and Jean Morgan, Mickey Eaton, Mrs. Boots and Margaret Dillion. Funeral services will be held at Swann Station Baptist Church on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Russell Blackmon presiding. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Morris Chapel Cemetery. Condolences may be made at bridgescameronfuneralhome.
