R.I.P. sweet Lionus. I hesitated announcing this because its sad, but so many of you fell in love with Lionus at the shelter and in pictures. Lionus was adopted last week and got very sick shortly thereafter. She was diagnosed with a bad case of whip worms on Monday, and a treatment plan was just beginning, and then she began to go downhill with kidney failure and other issues. Its still somewhat of a mystery as to the reason, but she went so far down the last 48 hours that a decision was made today to end the suffering. She was an amazing dog with the sweetest spirit. My good friends, Allison Barr Brown and Jeannie Parker, and I did all we could do for her this week, and she died knowing she was the light of our lives. Thank you, Allison, for stepping in to get her treated this week and for agreeing to foster her for as long as it took to get her well. There are more who need us, so as you said, we shall move forward in honor of Lionus.
