R8-U13A Caroline Springs 8.8.56 Altona 3.5.23 Goal Kickers: J. Moretti 3, S. Kyriazis 2, T. Miceli 2, L. Dyson Best Players: Where do I simply start in trying to make this report coherent after yesterday. Playing the undefeated top of the ladder team, rain falling and miserable conditions saw 20 brave boys cause the biggest boilover of the season and a win they will remember for ever. It was a pact that we as a group made to ourselves during the week on our team walk around CS lake on Wednesday night that we would dedicate our performance yesterday to all our parents and supporters, to give them something to cheer about which we haven’t done often enough this year in a really tough competition. It would be unfair to single out any player. Every lad that pulled on the Caroline Springs jumper yesterday was committed to throwing themselves where angels would fear to tread. A symbolism of our win yesterday was finishing the last 10 minutes of the match with 17 players after injuries took their toll and trying to get a lad off the ground because of injury who simply didn’t want to come off! Four quarters of unrelenting pressure and discipline that a senior side would struggle to give you would eventually be the undoing of a very very good team. The weather may have been crap yesterday but the sun shone brightly on the 20 brave boys who gave everything for their parents, family, friends, supporters and our great club and of which also kept our finals hopes alive which somehow got lost with all the emotion of our win. When all was done and dusted yesterday the rain was still falling but no one really cared anymore.Until next time (and from an incredible proud management team) GO LAKERS
