RACIAL HARMONY DAY 2013 Come 14 July 2013, residents of Nee Soon South will be charmed by snake at The Racial Harmony Day celebrations. 2. The celebration aims to bring together the diverse ethnic groups to enjoy a day of cultural stage activities such as Korean Hip Hop, Daiko Drums, performances by a Snake Charmer (in conjunction with the year of the snake) and many more fringe activities such as mingling with the snake, ketupat weaving, Chinese calligraphy and henna art painting. Said Mr William, a resident residing in Nee Soon South “I’ve attended the event last year when they had the residents doing the catwalk for the ethnic costumes so this year I’m looking forward to see it again if they have as well as the opportunity to mingle with snake and the snake charmer since we don’t get to see it often” 3. In addition to the cultural events, there will also be panel displays by IRCC as well as a recruitment booth for potential CERT members so to create awareness amongst the residents on how to work together and combat emergencies. Joining the residents, we have Grassroots Adviser, Er.Dr. Lee Bee Wah, MP for Nee Soon GRC and also the new citizens donning their ethnic outfits. Best-dressed residents will be invited onstage to do a simple ramp walk. 4 Your journalist and photographer are cordially invited to Racial Harmony Celebration on Sunday, 14 July 2013 at 5.00pm at Khatib Plaza (infront of Sheng Shiong Supermarket).
