RACINE COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR Ridgewood Care Center Basic Function To act as driver for the facility, maintain vehicles and assist the nursing and administration departments. Essential Duties 1. Drive residents to/from specified destinations in all weather conditions. 2. Deliver and pick up mail, supplies, printing and other items from the Courthouse. Make bank deposits and withdrawals. 3. Perform vehicle interior/exterior inspection and report malfunctions/damages daily. 4. Pick up supplies for nursing, dietary, maintenance and administration. 5. Assist with various office duties. 6. Assist with ground maintenance including snow removal, spreading of salt on walkways, watering trees and flowers as requested. 7. Responsible for washing of vehicle interior and exterior, sweep and vacuum interior and perform infection prevention & control cleaning with proper products. Check fluids levels and tire pressure. Maintain vehicle maintenance log and monitor yearly vehicle maintenance requirements. 8. Maintain Infection Prevention & Control supplies in vehicles as directed. 9. Clean and sterilize suction machines, air mattresses and other nursing equipment as directed. 10. Interact with residents and assist with transportation and activities. 11. Adhere to all Department of Commerce, County and department safety policies and procedures. Supervision Received Receives supervision from the Business Office Staff/Administrative Assistant. Qualifications • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and proof of insurability. • No resident abuse convictions. • Prompt and regular attendance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Certified Nurse Aide in State of Wisconsin preferred. • Present a clean, well-groomed appearance and pleasant personality. • Ability to demonstrate the safe operation of all Ridgewood vehicles. • Knowledge of minor vehicle preventative maintenance. • Ability to read, write and perform math computations. • Ability to understand and follow directions. • Ability to relate to residents. • Ability to effectively & appropriately communicate with others. • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the transportation needs of the facility. • Ability to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, mentally ill, emotionally upset and at times hostile and violent residents within the facility. Physical Requirements • Ability to push and pull heavy carts loaded with stock/supply items. • Constant (67-100% of workday) physical exertion up to 70 pounds of force. • Occasional (0-33% of workday) exertion of forces greater than 70 pounds may be required. • Ability to exert 70 pounds with bilateral lifting tasks to waist level, 50-60 lbs. to shoulder/head. • Constant bending, lifting, reaching and use of upper extremities, as needed. • Constant (60-100% of workday) walking and/or standing. Working Conditions • Subject to inside and outside environments including temperature changes and exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. • Subject to frequent interruptions. • Subject to involvement with staff, visitors, state and federal agency personnel and residents. • Subject to hostile, emotionally upset residents as well as verbally and physically abusive residents on an occasional basis. • Subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease, and conditions as well as unpleasant odors and sights. • Provided with necessary protective equipment and devices and services to ensure safety including but not limited to gowns, gloves, goggles, shoe covers, hand washing facilities, masks, Hepatitis B vaccine. Equipment Used • Uses basic office equipment such as a typewriter, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and transportation vehicles such as an automobile and bus.
