RAILROAD CROSSINGS=Extreme, deadly danger! Thomas Wollenhaupt 43 years ago today, a tragedy that rocked the entire Elida (Ohio-ed.) community to its core happened. Three Elida High School students, Jeff Fett, Robyn Kruse, and Neil Noffsinger perished in a horrible car train collision at the East Town railroad crossing while on their way to Tamarac Golf course. A Memorial Golf Tournament has been held in their memory at Tamarac since 1972. My Dad was the last to talk to those boys. They were joking around with each other in the high school parking lot before they took off for the golf course. Actually Dean, just three months after that accident, a family of five from Spencerville were killed at the same crossing. Thats when the lights and crossing gates were installed. youtube/watch?v=hWToJxKYRSc
