RANDOM SUBURBAN OBSERVATION: I live in an admittedly suburban neighborhood and I see my neighbors walking their dogs all of the time. Morning, noon, night. Sometimes the Mrs and I come home from an event late late at night and there go my neighbors... walking their dogs, with obvious care and affection. Though beautiful, this is a bit odd to me because growing up in PG County Maryland, in an admittedly not so suburban neighborhood, this is something I never saw. Never ever ever. As a matter of fact, the only time I saw the dogs in the neighborhood where I grew up was if I knocked on the door unexpected or climbed in somebodys back yard chasing a ball I might have lost. Folks in the neighborhood where I grew up loved their dogs, but their primary purpose was for protection. Specifically to bite you in the ass if you caused any trouble to the house or the family that owned them. The dogs in the neighborhood where I live now have such sweet names... Daisy, Gracie, Cupcake... friendly, warm, loving names. The dogs in the neighborhood where I grew up had names like Butch, Duke, Sampson... names that meant You come in this yard if you want to! Dogs in the neighborhood where I live now get lost. And its so sad. When they do, the neighbors post cute little signs with pictures of their dog with captions reading Our beloved Daisy is lost, if you find our sweet little angel, please call. Cash reward $$. In the neighborhood where I grew up, dogs didnt get lost, they broke loose! When they did, the signs read a little differently. More like... WARNING!!! Duke got loose!! Beware!! Hes crazy and he will bite you in the ass! Happy (and warm) Saturday all!!
