(RANT INCOMING) I just want to say something about this topic. I understand how annoying ads can be when youre trying to watch a video on Youtube and waiting for that dreaded skip button to appear on your screen can feel like eternity. But theres another thing people need to realize. When a Youtuber has ads on their videos its most likely they are a Youtube partner, meaning they make money off the videos they produce. I am one of them. Now I know Im not a big Youtuber like Pewdiepie or Michelle Phan, but I do like knowing I have some sort of income coming in from my animations I make even if its not a whole lot. Did you know running ads on videos are how partners make money? Whats pissing me off is that Youtube is changing to the point where a lot of animators are getting screwed over. Long ago Youtube changed their policies of the partner program where youll gain more from Minutes watched instead of views you have on your videos. Now thats extremely difficult for an internet animator to achieve, especially if they are working by themselves, unlike a company like Rooster Teeth with RWBY. Most animations you see on Youtube are like 2 - 5 minutes long right? This may be a shock to some people but that it takes a LONG ASS time to make an animation that long, especially on your own. So its like we get screwed over because now the Lets play channels can make a lot more revenue because the average lets play is from 30 mins to and hour. Now Im not saying lets play channels are bad, I love them, my favourites have always been with Achievement Hunter, Game Grumps, and Pewdiepie, but it just sucks for the cartoon side of Youtube. Now basically having a service where theyll completely take off the ads, is starting to look like animators will have a much more difficult time with their jobs or to have one at all like this on the internet. Now Ive honestly thought about leaving Youtube and going back to Newgrounds because Newgrounds is a big thing for Internet animators, but you do have a wider audience on Youtube. All I can say is, I really hope this doesnt end bad for us animators/artists/Youtubers. And if you use Ad blocker, well good for you I guess. But thats part of the problem too. https://youtube/watch?v=PsgU5nbbqqU
