RANT RANT RANT Over the past year or so I have - TopicsExpress

RANT RANT RANT Over the past year or so I have kept my mouth shut about the political arena in this country. Finally came to the conclusion that 90% of people who get into politics are crooks. They could care less about the American people or our country, and they have their own agenda’s they are trying to fill when they get into office, not the American peoples agenda. I have my beliefs on issues around the country and world and thoughts on them, but I just keep them to myself these days, that is what Old Hippies do. I just want to live a very peaceful life, have my family, and take care of them to the best of my ability. But once in a great while, some issue pops it’s head up and it touches very close to my heart and this issue here recently of how are Veterans are being treated is one of those issues. I am a veteran and maybe I am a little bias and you can make that judgment on your own, it does not matter to me. I believe that our Military and Veterans are the most precious thing we have in this country, second only to children who many of them will grow up to be Veterans themselves. We are rapidly losing the men and women in the country who did not have a choice of if they wanted to be in the military or not. The government told them they were going and they went, most with no questions asked. The vast majority of today’s Veterans are ones who volunteered to go into the military. They volunteered for many reasons, some more than others, but I can guarantee you that everybody who made it to their ultimate duty station in the military had a love of country. Young teenagers in this country no nothing more than the United States being at war with other countries as we have been involved in war that long now. The men and women who volunteered to go into the military did not have a choice of whether they would go fight in that war or not. Our so called political leaders made that choice for them and sent them into the “Belly of the Beast”. Some of them made the ultimate sacrifice, they did not come back. Some came back with nothing more than being a better person. Others came back wounded, broken and unable to manage their own lives. Military personnel fight wars for this country against other countries because our political leaders make the choice of going to war or not, not military personnel. Military personnel fight wars, keep us free from harm and protect us for the amount of money that is way below minimum wage when you break it down into hours. Political leaders, ones who make the decisions make hundreds of thousands of dollars for making those decisions. They make promises to these men and women that when they come back from these wars and protecting our country that their health and mental issues will be taken care of. Promises that are being broken more and more every day, promises that these politicians had no intention in keeping from the get go. For years, our so called political leaders have stood upon their campaign stumps complaining about how bad the Veterans Administration is in order to get our vote, and behind there podiums blaming everybody but themselves for how bad the system is. They make every empty promise they can in order to receive your vote. Time and time again, bills to help the system out, to make sure our men and women who volunteered to defend what they thought was right would come up for a vote and be denied because it was too much money, or their favorite lobbyists who was padding their pockets would not get anything out of it. When the vote was denied, again they would stand up in front of camera’s and blame everybody but themselves. Finally yesterday in the House of Representatives, after almost 5 years of attempt after attempt, a 17 Billion dollar bill was passed to provide relief to an overwhelmed Veterans Affairs system. A bill that will cost the American tax payer, including our Political leaders about $20.00 a piece over the next 3 years and more than half of those tax payers will get that money back. The bill now goes to the Senate where it is expected to pass with no problems, we will see, and then to the President’s desk for signature into law. Only 5 Representatives in the House voted “No” on this bill. They were Rick Crawford of Arkansas, Walter Jones of North Carolina, Mark Sanford of South Carolina, Steve Stockman of Texas, and Jack Kingston of Georgia. Jack Kingston of Georgia really disappoints me as he should surely back the VA as I know his sister is a Retired Navy Veteran. Do not know who if any will vote against this bill in the Senate. I do not know if these Reps are Democrat, Republican, Tea Party or Independent and do not care. All I know is that they should be ashamed of themselves for not voting to help veterans, and should be ashamed of themselves especially if they ever voted or supported sending our troops into harm’s way. The people of the districts these people represent should be ashamed of themselves for voting these people into office. Just my opinion, but any Congressman or Senator that can vote to send troops in to harm’s way, and not want to support them when they come home broken from what war can do to people has absolutely no business being in Congress or any part of the government for that matter. And as my buddy Forrest Gump would say, that is all I have to say about that!
