Syrian rebels cut off mans hand and live tweet pictures A group of Islamic extremists has apparently chopped off a thiefs hand in Aleppo, Syria — and live-tweeted the entire event. The series of tweets appeared on the account of a supporter of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria — a militant group whose violent methods are too extreme for even Al Qaeda to swallow. The first photograph posted on the now-defunct @reyadiraq account shows a blindfolded man whose right hand is being placed on a table. A caption announces that the man admitted to being a thief and asked for the brutal form of punishment in order to cleanse his sins, The Washington Post reports. Fighters gather around him, some taking photos on their phones. Some of the people in the image appear to be children. Most notable is a masked man who is standing nearby, holding a long sword. The amputation reportedly happened in the rural town of Maskanah. Twitter has suspended the @reyadiraq account, which had about 96,000 followers and more than 20,000 tweets. The ISIS is one of the more extreme groups of rebels that is trying to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The group has tried to establish strict interpretations of Islamic law in northern Syria. In the past, the ISIS has participated in beheadings and floggings. They have also established bans on smoking, music and other behaviours they believe are un-Islamic. The tactics have drawn the ire of Al Qaeda, which issued a statement in January cutting off all ties with the ISIS. The ISIS is also despised by Jabhat al-Nusra, Al Qaedas official Syrian affiliate, and the Free Syrian Army, a more mainstream group that is backed by Western countries. - See more at: newsbite.it/index-id-news-zk-19316.html#sthash.u4DXdhP5.dpuf
