***RANT*** So if you live in Seminole County you may want to educate yourselves on a few things, you will be surprised and shocked at your findings. Start with the recent news attention on the Fire Dept and the vehicles breaking down, and the stations not being built, and the firefighters not getting raises. Here is a tidbit to nibble many of the people in this line of work are here for a reason...they LOVE what they do, they have a passion and drive to help and serve others....this is our greatest weakness, and as a result the county leaders know they have us by the throats as many of us will continue to work in the career we LOVE no matter pay or conditions we are put through, we will work other side jobs, we will sacrifice on houses, vehicles, and more in order to focus on paying bills and providing for a family, they know this and they take advantage of it. As one of the wealthiest counties in Fl, as a Fire Dept we are one of the lowest paid. This means the county commissioners feel it is better they receive raises and almost 2x the pay to do a part time job as a politician, while some still maintain another full time job making even more then the 80k. So the next time you look at your wife, your child, and or your husband, think about the fireman that you just called to revive them.....they could be on a 48hr shift trying to work OT to pay their bills, or just finished doing their various other side jobs, but when you call they have to be at the top of their game, you want them to be at their best as the decisions they make and the actions they do could mean the difference between life and death. Would you rather pay a plumber more an hour, or the firefighter medic you want to revive your child or cut your family from a car??? It amazes me we pay politicians and crooked ones at that more money then we pay OUR TEACHERS, our POLICE, and our Firefighters but yet we want the teachers to mold the future, we want the police to protect us and our property and the firefighters to respond 24/7 as soon as we dial 911 no matter what the emergency. What do our POLITICIANS do again???? Do they attend ALL community events? Do they make themselves available to the people they serve?? Bottom line we dont do this job for money we do it for the love of it, the political leaders use this against us, when the reality is we are like everyone else we just want to cover our bills and provide for our families we dont need mansions or millions of $$$$$ we just want to be able to cover bills without hundreds of hours of OT away from our families. HOLD your politicians to the same standards you expect from your schools, police, and fire department!!!
