RCCG Launches Football Tourney Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has unrolled plans to take its advent into sports development to another level, following information that all parishes of the vastly-popular Pentecostal body will soon all be engaged in a zonal soccer competition sanctioned by the general overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye. The RCCG leader, fondly called Daddy G.O. has over the years been known to support table tennis and boxing, while a model parish of the church based in Victoria Island, Lagos runs Nigerian National League (NNL) clubside, City of David (COD), but the sports angle will now expand into members of the congregation. This is sequel to confirmation that all parishes of the church have been instructed to set in motion programmes that would eventually see them come up with teams that would come together under zonal umbrellas and participate in the first RCCG National Football Competition. The competition will commence from the zonal categories before the end of the year, with parishes in the respective areas of the RCCG umbrella coming together forthcoming matches, from which qualifiers will eventually emerge for the provincial level. The churches organogram rises from parishes to areas, zones and provinces, which are categorized under regions, for stage-by-stage and proper administration of RCCG activities. It is now expected that the forthcoming competition will run from area-by-area contests into matches among various provinces within particular states before extending into a national tournament among the churches various regions across the country.
