For my European American brothers and sisters, this may be difficult for you to understand but its important for us all to know the truth. For the truth shall set us all free. The suffering that we see in Ferguson represents the suffering that has been inflicted on the oppressed here in America for over 400 years. The Buddha says This is this, because that is that One way to alleviate the suffering of the oppressed peoples is to have Insight and Compassion for their pain that has been inflicted on them for centuries. We need to work to heal those wounds and not be afraid to face the injustice. Peace is our goal but as Peter Tosh says There can be no Peace without Justice America needs to formally apologize for slavery and give reparations. Also give these youth an equal chance to get jobs and a education. A people united will never be defeated! P.T.S.S. is a theory that explains the etiology of many of the adaptive survival behaviors in African American communities throughout the United States and the Diaspora. It is a condition that exists as a consequence of multigenerational oppression of Africans and their descendants resulting from centuries of chattel slavery. A form of slavery which was predicated on the belief that African Americans were inherently/genetically inferior to whites. This was then followed by institutionalized racism which continues to perpetuate injury. Thus, resulting in M.A.P.: M: Multigenerational trauma together with continued oppression; A: Absence of opportunity to heal or access the benefits available in the society; leads to P: Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome.
