RE: calamity days make up... I understand everyone chooses their career they love to do but this puts a real strain on parents or single parents have to struggle & make ends meet to figure out a way to rearrange their schedule for this. I get there are testings coming up but 2 weeks I dont think will make up for it. Think about it, kids go from 9-3 M-F every week which is a longgg time for them to keep focused & now we add an hour to that each day. I dont get why we just didnt choose to go an extra 4 days onto the school year. I know school employees love there job but so do I. Im a nurse & take care of people as well but I dont get to have a say in this extra time for school days to try & make up these 4 days before June 6. Im sure other parents feel the same way. Let alone we have no bussing (which is the levy issue) so now US parents struggle to get kids to school ourselves or pay a daycare if really never needed to to transport our kids. Which makes us parents need to make sure we are at work everyday. School workers get the most time off as a profession. 4 extra days wouldnt of killed anyone. Or why didnt we use a no school day for staff in-services to make up a day. But now kids are at threat if there is another snow day from today on they get no field day?? To a kid that is the best day of the year & to possibly take it away just to let everyone off for summer earlier. That is not right. Kids would not notice they have to go an extra week at end of year other than yeah we had to go an extra week. I dont think kids would get that upset vs getting upset over loosing field day
