RE controversial Pope Francis Homily Pope Francis homily at Wednesday Mass in Rome rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheist not just Catholics. Praise God! The homily of Pope Francis indeed supports one of my advocacies that “Religion cant save us”. My practice of Interfaith is now rectified. Forget religions, anyone is free to go to churches of different religions and it not a sin according to the gist of the homily of the leader of the worlds 1.2 billion Roman Catholics. If atheists are redeemed, how much more believers like you and me? The Pope emphasized saying “What saves you isnt believing and trusting in Christ alone for His atonement for our sins; its your good works. Your deeds.” May be in the mind of the Pope was James 2:14-26“Faith without work is dead”. In my opinion, this verse is not enough, a weak basis for such grandiose words. .Work must be understood as a fruit, an evidence of strong faith that is why we are doing it. Not doing it to be saved. This one is more appropriate verse to rely on: Ephesians 2: 8-9 “ FOR BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES: IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD: NOT OF WORKS, LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST.” The true meaning of this verse is relevant and tantamount to “ believing and trusting in Christ alone for His atonement for our sins. Let us not forget that God the Father Himself commanded us, “BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AND YOU WILL BE SAVED, YOU AND YOUR HOUSEHOLD.” (Acts 16:31). BE BIBLE BASED. AMEN.
