RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY THROUGH 11 PM TONIGHT FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH 11 PM TONIGHT IN SOUTHERN OREGON FOR THE SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS, THE CASCADES MOUNTAINS, ALONG WITH ALL OF KLAMATH AND LAKE COUNTIES. The National Weather Service Office in Medford, Oregon has issued a Red Flag Warning due to the expected development of thunderstorms with abundant lightning across the warning area. Storms could be dry to begin with in Northern California, but will moisten up. While there will be rain falling with the storms, the risk for new fire starts will be high, and any strikes outside of precipitation cores is likely to start a fire. There could be gusty winds with these storms as well, and the winds will help promote spread of new fire starts.
