REFLECTION SUNDAY By Douglas Logedi Luhangala THE MAKING OF A CHAMPION Life is a very interesting puzzle. It is one of the passwords that can be very easy to hack but can take one a lifetime to hack it. In the making on an individual brand, one has to cut an aura for their lives. You must develop a niche for yourself. So how did several stars develop their niches. A story of life: Cristiano Ronaldo was given the chance to join soccer by a loving friend. This is the power of people around you. It works wonders. David Beckham is known for his skills in taking free-kicks. That is the power of a strong brand Michael Jackson is known for his new dance steps every time he stepped out to dance. The power of creativity. Steve Jobs is known for his innovation and resilience in the world of business, even when he was fired from his own company. Michelle Obama is known for his position as a supportive wife to the world’s most powerful president, Barack Obama. That is the value of teamwork. The list goes on and on. You cannot go without mentioning the great people on earth. But what makes a great person? What makes a champion? What has Usain Bolt done different from other people. What makes a winner? Winners are made and not born. At least that is a subjective view. Winners make themselves at times. You will be a winner when you learn to be resilient, focused, unwavering, determined, happy, consistent, and develop a strong brand. No one will cash in on you until you give them a reason to do so. In the words off William Thorley, “people are like diamonds. They have a basic value, but it is only after they have been polished that the world will pay their actual values” Fantastic Sunday
