REFLECTIONS: THE ANT FABLE (2) (Continued from last week Wednesday) Part 1 of this fable was posted Last week Wednesday. Many of our followers demanded for the conclusion (Part 2). Even though the story did not come with a part 2, we have decided to give it a part 2 for your reading pleasure. …The sack affected the ant so much that she took to drinking. She met and became friends with the termite. In no time the once productive ant soon became destructive like the termite. After every bout of drinking they would go out on a destructive spree. The bee, an old friend of the ant’s soon got wind of the ant’s escapades with her new found friend. He then decided to wade in to save his friend, so on one bright sunny day he accosted the destructive duo on one of their orgies. The bee slapped some sense into his drunk friend’s head and practically carried her home. Every day at about the same time in the mornings, the bee was always on hand to talk more sense into his friend. “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” Goes the bee. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” “No condition is permanent” he will always tell his friend. “You’ve got potential my good friend pick yourself up, and make use of your talents, you are Ant – the hardworking guru” he told the ant. This went on for several days; the bee dutifully went to see his friend on his way to work for his queen and republic. The ant recovered soon enough and determined to make the best of her life. With the little money she had stashed away, she started her own production firm. She worked tirelessly and dutifully every day at her firm, even though no one showed up to buy her products. She persevered and soon she had no more space to store her products. Meanwhile, Lion Incorporated was having problems; the grasshopper and locust were employed to take on/up the responsibilities of the sacked ant – both of them came highly recommended and highly qualified. But because they hadn’t the zeal and drive for the job, they couldn’t deliver like the ant. Production came to a grinding halt, and they started losing customers. Liquidation soon followed. The Ant, having worked tirelessly for several months decided to take a week off to rest; it was at this time that the parrot came in contact with the ant. Now, the parrot happened to be the owner of the only Television station in town. Not one to pass up a good story, the parrot did a story on the ant, her production firm and her products. Word about the ant and her products soon circulated the entire city and neighbouring towns as well. With this exposure, things took a different turn for the ant and her firm, customers came from everywhere seeking her wares. Business started booming for the ant; so much that she had to employ more hands. The lion having lost everything, was now finding it difficult to make ends meet, he had to go cap in hand to the ant to seek for a job. Moral: You never know the value of what you have until you have lost it. Do not wait to lose what you have before you start valuing it. Meditation: Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber. Proverbs 6:6-11(NLT) You will succeed in Jesus Name!
