REGIONAL CANCER CENTRE MEDICAL COLLEGE CAMPUS THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – INDIA – 695 011 CANCER CARE FOR LIFE (Third Series) The Regional Cancer Centre, is an autonomous Science and Technology Institution situated in the Medical College Campus, Thiruvananthapuram, established jointly by Govt. of India and Govt. of Kerala. This institution provides the most modern and comprehensive cancer care to patients and conducts advanced research on cancer. A unique institution in South India, the centre houses a specialist panel of the first order including Surgeons, Radiotherapists, Medical Oncologists, Pathologists, Radiologists and Scientists. The centre is equipped with other state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. THE SCHEME Cancer Care of Life scheme (3rd series) is a social welfare scheme sponsored by Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram to provide advanced cancer treatment free of cost to all those who join the scheme upto a prescribed limit. In this scheme there are two Plans – Plan-A and Plan–B. MEMBERSHIP FEE & COMMITMENT OF RCC Plan A : Rs. 500/- per person Rs. 1400/- per family of three persons* Rs. 1700/- per family of four persons* Rs. 2000/- per family of five person* * Family includes spouse and dependent children only. In the event of getting cancer, the centre is committed to provide to those who join the scheme, standard diagnostic and treatment facilities in the Regional Cancer centre, Trivandrum up to the value of 100 times the membership fee prescribed for a person. Viz Rs. 50,000/-. Multiple Membership One person can take up to 4 memberships: One Membership Rs. 500 Benefit up to Rs. 50,000 Two Membership Rs.1000 Benefit up to Rs.1,00,000 Three Membership Rs.1500 Benefit up to Rs.1,50,000 Four Membership Rs.2000 Benefit up to Rs.2,00,000 Plan B Rs.10,000 per person Discount for family membership is not available in Plan B.Treatment facilities up to Rs. 5,00,000/- (5 lakhs) will be given in this scheme. ELIGIBILITY The scheme is open to all Indian citizens who are not already cancer patients. The scheme benefits accrue two years after enrolment. HOW TO ENROLL 1. Application forms can be got from the RCC and can be down loaded from RCC web site (rcctvm.org) 2. The membership fee can be remitted by cash in RCC cash counter or by cheque /DD in favour of “Cancer Care for Life Account, Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum”. 3. Application along with DD may be sent to Director, Regional Cancer Centre, Medical College Campus, Trivandrum –695 011 4. The membership fee will be once in a lifetime payment with no annual premium. 5. To facilitate quick and easy enrolment, applicants will not be subjected to any medical check up. 6. A membership card with a number will subsequently be issued to each member for identification by the centre. VALIDITY Membership is non – refundable, non–transferable and valid for life. FACILITIES 1. Out patient treatment 2. In patient treatment 3. Re-imbursement of expenses as per the rules of the Regional Cancer Centre, during treatment in Thiruvananthapuram. 4. Psychological, Social and Vocational counselling. PLEASE NOTE 1. Regional Cancer Center is a referral hospital. Members have to report with a referral letter from a registered modern medicine practitioner 2. Cost of treatment in other hospital before reporting to the centre will not be reimbursed. 3. Scheme will not cover ailments other than cancer. 4. In-patient facility will not include accommodation in pay wards. Patients have to pay rent for their stay in the pay wards. 5. Membership in the scheme will not cover free check up for early detection of cancer. However a detection clinic functioning in the centre offers check up at a registration fee of Rs.100/- (Present rate). Any member who has taken treatment earlier will not be entitled to any benefit irrespective of his/her enrolment. Decision of the specialists of the center regarding treatment will be final. Membership sponsored by an institution brings about 10% discount for membership fee. A minimum of 100 members is needed for getting this benefit.
