REMEMBER THIS : You cannot be forced to pay any bill by Direct Debit, and also remember that if you sign a DD mandate then Irish Water can just increase the price of water and withdraw it from your bank account without even telling you. This is important... you can pay any bill, utility or otherwise by cash, and even in coins if you choose, as long as it is legal tender in the state. If they refuse payment then thats their problem, you have engaged with them so they cannot take you to court. They are not legally entitled to refuse IRISH legal tender of any denomination Irish Water are set to ask every householder to provide their bank account details , their PPS numbers and the PPS numbers of any children living with them Will you give Irish Water these personal details, and what about your data protection and privacy, are you willing to give these up as well The final section of the form is a direct debit mandate, to be filled in with the international bank account number to be debited, the name of the bank, the name of the account holder and their signature. The option of a “recurrent payment” is PRE-TICKED. so by signing the form at all you are agreeing to the setting up of a direct debit in your name, even if you had decided not to do so.
