REMEMBER, YOU ARE UNIQUE IN THE EYES OF GOD: Once I found my niche in the sports journalism industry, among the things I vowed never to do was strive to be like other sportswriters, particularly with regards to how they gather news and assemble stories. I sensed that if I worked earnestly at creating my own voice, persevere at establishing my own brand, manufacture my own style of newsgathering and reporting, my editors and peers would ultimately come to embrace and respect me and my work. Moreover, I often remind myself that even as a seasoned reporter, I am fearfully and wonderfully made in God. That means, among other things, that I never have to aspire to be like other journalists. My voice is unique in the eyes of God. My newsgathering is unique in the eyes of God. My reporting is unique in the eyes of God. Most importantly, people in my industry have come to embrace and respect my unique journalistic talents. Regardless of your occupation or chosen field, understand that you never have to duplicate anyone. No doubt, you are unique in the eyes of God. Its time you start putting on display the uniqueness God birth in you! (Psalm 139:14)
