** REMINDER: FEDERAL CARDS/IMPACT AID SURVEYS ** Each year the United States Department of Education provides significant funding to the school systems to assist in providing educational programs for Military and Military-Connected Children and Youth. This funding is called Impact Aid, which was designed to assist local school systems that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal property, or that have experienced increased expenditures due to the enrollment of federally connected children. In order to secure Impact Aid funds, the school systems must conduct a survey to identify the number of military and DA civilian sponsored children attending their schools. The funds received are based on the number of children identified in this survey. It is very important to give correct and accurate information on this document, as well as ensure its timely return to your child’s school. We urge you to take the time necessary to complete the survey and have your student return it to his/her school by the date requested by your school system. This is an opportunity for you to personally and positively contribute to your child’s education. ** School Board Meetings **: Aiken County – 8 & 22 OCT 13, Starts at 7 p.m. , 1000 Brookhaven Drive, Aiken, SC Columbia County – 8 & 22 OCT 13, Starts at 5:30 p.m., 4781 Hereford Farm Road, Evans, GA Richmond County – 15 OCT 13, Starts at 6 p.m., 864 Broad Street, Augusta, GA ** School System Holidays & Early Release **: Columbia County - 14 & 15 OCT 13 No School Richmond County – 16 & 17 OCT 13 are Early Release dates for Elementary Students, 18 OCT 13 No school ** International Walk to School Day ** Wednesday, 9 OCT 13 Please use extra caution in driving to school as many children in the local systems will be walking to school in celebration of this day!
