REMINDER: Try to fast on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Abu Haraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allahs Messenger (Sallal laahoo alaihi wassallam ) as saying: The most excellent fast after Ramadan is Allahs month. al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night. The Prophet Sallal laahoo alaihi wassallam also used to fast on this day. So when he migrated to Madina, he fasted on it and ordered (the Muslims) to fast on it. When the fasting of Ramadan was enjoined, it became optional for the people to fast or not to fast on the day of Ashura. (Bukhari)
