REPOST FROM MY SISTER, PLEASE READ: Hey guys. reddit has successfully helped me in the past with a massive longshot, so heres another one. My mom is divorcing a man whos the official owner of a 7 year old male Shar Pei, Oliver, who recently escaped the backyard and attacked the neighbors dog. He didnt kill it but they did a number on each other. The owner was luckily VERY understanding (which is a shock) and didnt want to press charges or do anything against Oliver. He was going to put him down without consulting any of the family because he believes its what needs to be done (along with many other character defects.) The point is, we have seven days to find even a solution that gets him out of my stepfathers care. They are located in Mississippi, I am in Washington state and feeling really damn useless. Oliver is an AKC registered dog with papers. Weve tried contacting the breeder along with many organizations that either wont return our calls and emails or do not have any foster homes available. He has never, EVER once even growled at a human or a child. Our previous neighbors two week old baby fell asleep on him. A three year old I babysat would routine make him smile by stretching out his wrinkles. He whines if someone on TV is crying, dont even get me started if physically you cry in front of him. Hes an absolutely wonderful dog. He just cannot stand other dogs. He was raised with an older female Beagle mix, whom he always loved, but she doesnt like other dogs either. (She was a rescue from a family with VERY aggressive dog.) He would need a home without any other pets. Children are perfectly fine with him. He is a bit of a puller on a leash, but with a harness hes manageable as long as hes kept pretty close. I desperately and selfishly wish I could take him but he would be in an apartment all day alone with no yard and it would be completely unfair. Much like his situation now. He doesnt deserve this. My mom cant take him in her situation with the beagle mix, plus a cat, in her apartment. We understand we would be relinquishing ownership, but we are willing to do whatever we can do see that he doesnt get put down as long as we can. The date that weve been given for this deadline from my stepdad is a week from tomorrow. I wish we could just guerrilla-style kidnap him but that just cannot be done. Words cannot describe the love I have for this little man. Guys Im seriously grasping at straws. Even if you could send me an email of someone who could possibly help I would be forever grateful.
