The IFP MP lost his battle with lung cancer in the early hours of this morning at his home in Cape Town. The African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) have commended Ambrosini for the dedication and passion he showed as an MP. Ambrosini entered South African politics in 1990 when he became legal advisor to the Inkatha Freedom Party during the Codesa talks that paved the country’s way to democracy. Born in Italy in 1960, he was a constitutional lawyer of ferocious intellect. Educated in Rome, Harvard and Georgetown universities in the United States. He became an IFP MP in 2009 taking up the cudgels in the fight for gay rights, immigration and freedom of expression.
