REWIND: AKAHMUN 2013 – Part 2 As the second day of the very first conference commenced, delegates hurried to their committee sessions, better prepared. It was indeed going to a very long day and we were definitely going to fall short of dairy milk shots. Yet again, we all made it on time thanks to the efforts of our logistics team, which ensured that we made it out of breakfast halls and into the committee room. As the committee sessions began, delegates seemed far more enthusiastic. The confidence and intensity of debate were on a steep rise. Accusations, rivalry, breaking of blocs were all commonplace. The war had begun. There were talks of resolutions, amendments and caucuses. Delegates plotted against each other and argued for their rights as the Directors felt a sense of pride seeing their delegates finally pick up pace. And when things were just about calming down, the ultimate trump cards was played: crisis. A weeping man accusing the delegates of ECOSOC ran into their committee with his wounded child, a notorious extremist barged into DISEC and challenged their resolution and another rebellious group hacked the intelligence database, putting the delegates of the Security Council at gunpoint. While some delegates developed cold feet, others used this opportunity to shine. In the background, where all the organizational work was happening, we could hardly believe what we had fallen short of – projectors! Directors wanted resolutions to be presented and we realized we didn’t have enough projectors. And so, there was shuffling of committees, shifting of rooms and then all was good. After a long day full of intense debate, tons of crises, numerous updates and resolutions, we were all ready to let out hair down. It was time for the delegate dance. Well, what did we miss here? The directors had been so busy throughout the day planning and organizing their committees that they hardly realized that an Executive Board and Secretariat performance was yet to be planned. As delegates went back to their dormitories, chatting excitedly and discussing what to wear that evening, the organizing team prepared for a dance performance. It wasn’t all that easy for them. They “debated” about the song (they take MUNing really seriously), changed it a million times and finally agreed upon two songs that wouldn’t test dancing skills all that much. The most awaited part of AKAHMUN was finally here. For the first time ever, AKA,H organized a dance in the amphitheater and the delegates loved it! There was enthusiasm, happiness and fervor in the air as delegates just let go and swayed to the music. The organizing team blended into the dance atmosphere so well, that they performed their dance better than they expected. As delegates danced away, the second day of AKAHMUN 2013 drew to an end. It was hardly believable that two long days had gone by and all that was left was the last and final lap of AKAHMUN, 2013. Stay tuned to know what happened in the last lap.
