RIDING THE CARNAGE IN THE STORM: BOKO HARAM, BUHARI, JONATHAN AND YORUBA The issue is not whether or not Buhari is culpable, and should thus be arrested for his contributions to the emergence of Boko Haram. Neither is it about Jonathan’s weakness and inability to stand firm on issues like the firm and final destruction of Boko Haram. The main issue is that Nigeria is a dysfunctional state incapable of being retrieved from the abyss to which it is heading. The only saving grace for Nigeria right now is to dismember and disintegrate in to smaller, more autonomous, more cohesive and manageable states who share common origin, nationality, language and customs. One hundred years of association has proved that this union is a monumental failure. Continuing the enforcement of this union can only lead to the emergence of more barbaric, demented groups like Boko Haram. We should not forget that though Buhari might not be directly involved with the current atrocities of Boko Haram, yet he cannot be absolved from the effects his statements after he lost the 2011 elections had on his fanatical followers and the polity. He made the infamous “Dog & The Baboon Will Be Soaked In Blood” speech and all hell broke loose. Many people, mainly southerners lost their properties andlives as a result. Going forward, Buhari’s antecedents and those of his Northern or Fulani folk for over 200 years do not stand in his favour, nor in the favour of the continuation of one Nigeria. Much like Boko Haram they have continuously killed, burnt, pillaged, ravaged, murdered, invaded and massacred innocent people over the long years of their migration from the Futa Jalon and Futa Toro highlands of Senegal and Guinea to present day Niger area. They have come variously as Uthman dan Fodio Jihad, Mai tat Tsine uprising, Kano riots, El Zak Zaki’s group, Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram etc. By whatever name they are called, they remain the symptoms of the same old Fulani irredentist disease that has to be exorcised from the soul of Nigeria for all of us to have peace. It will not stop with the election of Buhari, even if he were not guilty of promoting their agenda. And he is. I have argued it at many different fora that between Buhari and Jonathan, there is really no choice for Yoruba. While Buhari, once he grabs power will definitely play the old Fulani script irrespective of the wiles and cunning of Tinubu and his ACN group in APC, Jonathan, on the other hand is a cloak of cover being used by Igbo to assault Yorubaland. Jonathan, during his declaration visit to the Southwest, at Ile-Ife, on the 28th of October, 2014, openly admitted to the marginalization of Yoruba during this subsisting six years presidency. He is now asking for four more years during which he is promoting the takeover of Lagos by Igbo under a PDP candidacy with Igbo as deputy governor. Under no circumstance will this be allowed to happen. What do we as Yoruba have in common with the mindless mayhem and murderous debauchery of innocent people, especially women students and children? This is not who we are. And we should vehemently refuse to continue to share the same space with such animals and savages. So I say NO to One Nigeria. I say NO to being called the same name as people who exhibit such primeval bestiality. The earlier Oduduwa Republic is pulled out of the sinking ship called Nigeria, the safer and better for all of us Omoluabi, Omo Oodua. And we should be prepared for the worst. Nothing good comes easy. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. No pain, no gain. The exploiting slave master will never allow the slave freedom without a fight. When I hear some Yoruba say they do not want war, I laugh. It is tantamount to their saying they do not want freedom. Freedom does not come on a platter of gold. It is won on the battlefield! It is either we take the battle to the enemy or we wait at home, to be slaughtered like rams, as in the video above. Actualising Oduduwa Republic now, through the cohesive, coordinated activities of The Movement for Oduduwa Republic (MORE) and such likeminded Yoruba Freedom Fighters is the only way to save Yorubalnd from the coming armagedon.
